[ARCHIVED] A Safe Start: SRP & Sinton PD's Commitment to Schools

As students, staff, and families get ready for a new school year, our top priority is ensuring a safe and secure environment for everyone. At Sinton PD, we believe that preparedness is key, and that's why we want to remind our community about the safety protocols in place to protect our schools.

The Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

Our safety framework is built around the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), a clear and consistent set of actions for any emergency. The SRP uses a common language that all students, staff, and first responders understand, allowing for a swift and coordinated response when it matters most.

These five key actions are:

  • Lockdown: Securing individual rooms and keeping occupants quiet.

  • Secure: Bringing everyone inside the building and locking exterior doors.

  • Evacuate: Moving from one location to a new, safer one.

  • Shelter: Taking protective action from a hazard (e.g., severe weather).

  • Hold: Keeping students in their current location until an all-clear is given.

Our Custom Video Illustrations

To make these protocols easier to understand, we've created a series of custom video illustrations that visually demonstrate each of the five actions. These videos are an invaluable resource for students, staff, and parents alike to see exactly what each protocol looks like in a school setting. We strongly encourage you to watch them and talk about them with your family. A well-informed community is our greatest asset in an emergency.

You can find the videos on https://www.sintontexas.org/2311/School-Workplace-Safety.

Thank you for being our partner in public safety. We look forward to a fantastic and secure school year!
